The Scene: Made in America Philly Day 1

Prior to this weekend, I'd never been to a music festival. So naturally when Keri propositioned me to join her at the Budweiser Made in America festival, I couldn't say no.

In typical me fashion, I hit up a few PR teams running the festival. Keri and I scored media passes which was pretty awesome! Those passes were clutch, mainly because we could refuel and recharge in the tent. I was so excited to be in Philly, haven't been there as an adult. It didn't disappoint, such a cool city.

We hit the road Saturday morning, I literally packed my bags the morning of waiting on the weather forecast. I'm surprised I manged to pack anything that made sense, I don't recommend packing at 5 am! Even though it was slightly cloudy, seeing Philly's skyline was all I needed to put a little pep in my step. We arrived at the Sonesta Hotel, I love this hotel btw, and headed to media check-in.

I'd never seen Kanye live, so I can check that off my bucket list. He actually put a good show. My view was slightly skewed because he was after J Cole, who KILLED it, but I'll get into that shortly. I do think I need to see him again because the sets were kind of short. I think his was maybe an hour give or take, which in concert time isn't really that long.

He performed a good mix of songs which I appreciated because I'll be honest, I'm really not into the Yeezus album. Everyone talks about "Kanye rants", he did express his opinion on a few things that I personally agreed with. So I can attest that his rants aren't always crazy.

Here's a little video I shot of the crowd...I may or may not be a videographer now lol.

Now moving on to thee most epic performance of the day...Mr. J Cole. Lawd when I tell you this man put on a show, he put on a show. His performance was so honest. No games, no gimmicks, just him and us going HAM together!!! Hell, he wore sweatpants, a tee, and was rocking the scruff. Chicks dig the scruff, I fell in love for a second lol. It literally was one of the best live performances I've seen. The crowd was epic...full of drunk music lovers. What could be better than that???

J Cole MIA by YardieGoals
We actually ran into him heading into the Roc Nation tent, it was next to media. Speaking of Roc Nation, another highlight was being feet away from Jay Z...I was star struck! Next time I'll meet him..speak it into existence.

This is J Cole's entire performance I found on Daily Motion. It won't be the same as being there but it's worth the watch! Day 2 of MIA fest will be up soon :)
