Mama We Made It

Yooooooo what’s up guys! I’m still working out what my posting schedule will look like. When you’re scatterbrained like me committing to things is quite difficult. Anyway, I’m so excited to be finally wearing my own clothes. I’m no stranger to a thigh high split, so naturally every skirt my mom & I made has one. I’d wear one everyday if I could, but walking into the office with all that leg might cause an uproar haha. If it were up to me I’d be slanging financial statements looking like Beyoncé in that bitch.

But seriously though I’m so lucky to have my mom! Even though I get on her damn nerves she’s the BEST. I was frustrated because it’s hard for me to find clothes I love without paying ridiculous prices. Not to mention I’m so use to thrifting that anything over 10 bucks gets heavily debated in my mind. Traveling is my number one priority so ya girl is on a budget big time!!!

I’m full of ideas, which is funny because I’m always pitching them to my friends and they’re like, so are you actually going to see this trough. Terrible for an ex-basketball player, that’s like the most important rule of being a great shooter…the follow through! I ain’t shit hahaha! But this time I said I’m making my own clothes and I did it hooray.

My mom and I made this skirt and it fits like a glove. Thank you mama I love you. I’m like addicted now, I want to make stuff everyday. Then I remember I can’t sew like moms so I gotta chill. Don’t want to turn my mom’s house into a sweat shop, but that is an option lol.

The print of this fabric is everything!! It’s a lightweight linen and it’s so comfortable. We were in the fabric store so long looking at patterns, I had a hard time finding modern patterns. If any of you know patterns that have more modern cuts please let me know. I finally found a few I could work with but of course I modified them a little.

These skirts will be in heavy rotation the rest of summer. You can’t really tell by how I styled this look but the shape is really versatile. I plan on wearing them with everything from t-shirts to crop tops or more classically like this look. I love this Ports jacket, my favorite part is the belt, particularly the gold stud closure. I wrapped it around a few times to add a little umph. Finished it off with these ALDO shoes that are basically my everyday heels right now, they’re super affordable too.

My mom and I might be able to take a few orders for this skirt. So if you’re interested send me an email…I’m trying to encourage her to sew/create more. Tell me what you think of the skirt. I’m continuing the trend of OOTD videos so the video for this look will be up shortly. Happy Friday Eve xx
