Find Your Happy Place

Even though I primarily talk about fashion and the outer appearance of things. Every now and then, I strip down and discuss things I'm really passionate about.

One of the most important things in life is to be happy, like happy on the inside. So many aspects of today's culture causes people to struggle with what it means to be 100% happy. While every era has it's own unique challenges, I believe reinforcing the importance of self awareness is critical to our generation.

The social media craze has been a gift and a curse in my opinion. While I completely support the concept of sharing and believe it's a positive thing. I also believe it has challenged our self confidence, our views, our relationships, & our ability to understand what really makes us happy. It gives us glimpse into other peoples lives, and while some people can view others lives as inspiration, others may feel that their own lives are inadequate.

It really is disheartening that so many people view themselves as inadequate the way they are, especially women. To me, putting on makeup is no different than getting a boob job, it's an alteration of yourself. While the latter is more extreme, my point is I don't disagree with change, if it's something YOU genuinely want to do. I say that because no alteration to your outer shell can resolve unresolved issues within.

You have to ask yourself, what makes you happy? Nobody can provide happiness for you no matter how bad you want them to. Money or fame can't provide it either. You have to allow yourself to be happy. And let go of people in your life who don't meet your happiness requirement.

Don't get me wrong, I'm really not trying to preach or tell you what to do or how to live. I'm asking you only to think about it. Ask yourself if the decisions you're making are moving you towards your best-happiest self? Think about how you treat people and how you want people to treat you. Take a moment to really process those things. I'm asking you to be conscious of what you do and how you represent yourself because someone is being influenced by you. And that's not even the most important thing, the most important thing is this. You will never get a chance to do this again, life is a one shot deal. It's important that you embrace every moment you're here in happiness, living for yourself, for those you love, and those who love you.

I've had so many growing pains to get to the person I am today. I evaluated myself and realized that I was the cause of my unhappiness! It takes balls to admit that to yourself by the way. But the truth is, you can either live blaming everyone else for your unhappiness, or realize that it's you who allows yourself to be unhappy. You have control and when you realize that you view things so differently. You trust yourself and the things you want, you don't allow others to devalue the things that make you happy.

I posted these pictures because they're real. Real smiles, real emotions, & real moments with friends. Not only that but when I look at them they make me happy. Sometimes it's difficult to find a reason to smile, especially those days when everything seems to be going wrong. Those days when being happy seems impossible remember that you're still here! You have another moment, or day, or year to meet your own happiness requirement. You have to remember that because so many peoples lives end everyday. I have to remind myself this every time I lose a firm grip on my happiness.

So my challenge to you is to require what really makes you happy from yourself and others. Don't be so concerned with what happiness is to others because other people don't have the same happiness requirement as you. Surround yourself with people who make you happy and appreciate the real person you are. Allow yourself to be the REAL YOU because there is no value in editing yourself to make others happy. Lastly LIVE EVERYDAY!!! Because if you live everyday, there's no way you'll be unhappy xoxo
