I never got around to posting these so I'm sharing them now. My baby looks so different already! I forgot how fast they change this young. I'm struggling to keep up, everyday I see new features. Which is why I decided to talk a little about capturing the moments today.
I probably get this from my mom, but there’s something about photo albums, much like how I prefer physical books over digital, having something in your hand ties your senses to it. I admittedly was terrible about printing photos of Chase, who is now 7, but now that Harper’s here I’ve decided to create individual albums for both of them.
I love flipping through my mom’s photo albums of our family. Maybe that’s why I love taking pictures, even though I was the most neglected child in terms of photos, thanks mom, I get it, I was the 5th child, I still love you! Anyway, life comes at you fast and one day you realize how much time has gone by, so it’s important to capture the moments. I can’t wait to be that mom/grandma who whips out old pictures and has a million stories to tell. When I’m old that’s gonna be my thing, especially because my memory is already not great, so I’ll need a little help haha.
On a deeper note, all my life I’ve known how I wanted to raise my kids. What I didn’t know was I’d have them 7 years apart, and not really according to the family I saw myself having. I say this to say, the way I envisioned raising my kids, still holds true today. At 31, I’m finally at a place where I can provide my kids with experiences that culturally enrich their lives, that help them see beyond what we see everyday. I want them to have a grounded perspective and appreciation people and things. My main priority in my 30’s is family travel, seeing the world and capturing every moment in the process.
Most of the time when things don’t happen as planned in life it’s for a reason. Everything in my life is really propelling me get back to the fundamentals. Things aren’t really as complicated as we make them seem. Don’t get so caught up and let the moments start passing you by. I’m definitely looking forward to capturing these two kiddos hit milestones in their lives. There’s crazy Krystin with her camera again, they’ll probably start to run from me haha. Little do they know I’m relentless (also crazy) so I will have their albums full of growth, love, and memories they’ll thank me for once they’re older!
Pictured here is Harper’s first shoot. Kseina did an awesome job on these and I can’t wait to add them to my album. I’ve been itching to get behind the camera and I have two pretty perfect subjects to aim at. Just be prepared for upcoming adventures, I’ll begin sharing here on the blog soon xx
